Free Radicals play the leading role when it comes to research related too antioxidants. You no doubt have heard of free radical chains and know that they cause damage in our bodies but did you know how they are formed? They are molecules that are unstable because they include an unpaired electron in their make-up. Electrons are usually stable when in a pair. The free radical will attempt to become stable by fastening to cell membranes in the body and robbing the molecule and as a result generating another free radical. Damage is caused to the body as a chain of free radicals is formed.
Free radicals can be formed naturally in the body, as result of various processes e.g. the breakdown of bacteria by the white blood cells or outside of it by environmental pollutants e.g. smoking. In excess they produce harmful oxidation in the body. Each attack spontaneously produces another until it causes the cells death.
Free radical damage can cause: -
Heart disease.
Premature aging.
Degenerative eye disorder.
Cancer.
Arthritis.
This is where the antioxidants can come to the rescue. They prevent cellular damage by interacting with the free radicals and ending the free radical chain. Studies have shown that antioxidants: -
Improve the immune system.
Encourage good eye health.
Sustain a healthy cardiovascular function.
Control cholesterol levels.
Tackle many age related issues.
Our body manufactures numerous antioxidant enzymes together with glutathione peroxidase, catalase and superoxide dismutase and as well as this the vitamins C, E and beta-carotene act as antioxidants.
Many fruits and vegetables are effective resources of antioxidants. Here are some of the best antioxidant sources: -
Cruciferous vegetables cauliflower, watercress cabbage, broccoli, mustard greens, radishes, kale and turnips. Break down potential carcinogens -reduce the possibility of cardiovascular disease.
Curcumin extract antiviral, cholesterol lowing and anti-inflammatory.
Fo ti root extract memory – lowers triglyceride levels.
Ginkgo biloba leaf boosts oxygen levels in the brain – metabolism, increases blood flow to the brain and other organs – regulates neurotransmitters.
Grape seed extract possesses cancer-fighting properties – improves vascular strength – reduces cholesterol.
Green tea extract glucose metabolism -dental health-cardiovascular health -digestion.
Lycopene from tomatoes – healthy prostate – heart function.
Hawthorn berry extract blood circulation – cardiac muscles- arterial wall.
Pine bark extract stabilizes collagen -maintains elastin- structural strength of blood vessels- healthy blood – erectile dysfunction.
Schizandra fruit extract liver-normal functioning – respiratory system, cardiovascular system -central nervous system.
Quercetin Anti-inflammatory-cholesterol lowering-antiviral.

A natural by product of red wine has been discovered to increase life expectancy. It is called Resveratol, and comes from the skin of red grapes. It may now be possible to age gracefully. And all without the reliance on harsh chemical treatments or surgery. The French have enjoyed the fruits of resveratrol for decades, by enjoying the company of red wine.
/>
Now pharmaceutical giants are rushing resveratrol supplements into production with great speed. The studies so far on resveratrol have been limited to flies, mice and worms. The studies revealed that flies live 30% longer, and fish and worms by 60%.
Working on the National Institute of Aging’s Harvard Medical School research, was Dr Rafael de Cabo. He said that the diet the mice where on consisted of dense calories and saturated fats. The resveratrol compound protected the mice from any dangerous side effects.
Resveratrol is not only of interest to the anti aging market. It has also been linked to the combat of diabetes and cancer. Although all research is still in its infancy, natural antioxidants like this may be the only way to effectively treat aging, cancer and diabetes in the future.
When you look at the research in more detail, reservatrol may actually treat a common burden to society. All the mice in the study where fed highly saturated fats. In essence they were obese. It did not damage their life expectancy at all.
A University of Rochester research study concluded that resveratrol can stop pancreatic cancer cells from reaching and destroying vital energy stores in the body. By cutting of their route, the cancerous cells in turn cannot spread.
Is resveratrol another fad supplement? Well actually the French have been consuming it for years via their ponchant for red wine. Their nation has actually a lower rate of heart disease than the US, even though they consume a high calorie diet which includes a fair portion of saturated fats.
What does the future hold for resveratrol? Since it’s a naturally occurring product, it’s not going to disappear anywhere fast. So far the tests have been positive. It may not be able to claim the fountain of youth status yet, but one thing resveratrol has got going for it, is that it is a natural compound. That’s something to brag about, especially in an age of Frankenstein science.

Resveratrol supplements are the latest antiaging fad. Aging is breakdown, but broken things can be fixed. Aging is characterized by a progressive deterioration of physiological functions and metabolic processes. The healthy reputation of dietary antioxidants just got more support, with one type turning in a spectacular anti-aging performance.
/>
Research studies continue to find more interesting benefits from this red wine compound, including potential anti-cancer and anti-aging activity. As to its antiaging potential, resveratrol activates a cell’s survival defense enzyme, which prolongs the time cells have to repair their broken DNA.
Newspapers, magazines and TV over the last few years have been filled with news of the anti-aging, antioxidant and seemingly miraculous properties of red wine. Wine lovers are probably already aware that red wine contains a powerful antioxidant: resveratrol. Resveratrol appears to work as a powerful antioxidant helping quench free radical damage in the body, but also has a unique mechanism of action that may prove to have significant life extension properties.
Antioxidant resveratrol action is very important for the heart health because it can reduce the blood pressure by opening the arteries hence increasing the blood flow through them. Antioxidants slow down cell damage and the progression of degenerative diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s and improve organ, eye, skin, teeth and gum health.
The primary health component of wine that researchers have uncovered is called resveratrol. Resveratrol is also found in a number of other foods and berries, such a peanuts and blueberries but grapes, particularly winemaking grapes such as Muscadine, are the clear winner. Resveratrol maintains cell viability and exerts an anti-oxidative action by enhancing the intracellular free-radical scavenger glutathione.
Resveratrol is an active polyphenol found in red wine that has anti cancer effects. Resveratrol is known to fight cancer tumor growth. Resveratrol protects heart tissue from cancer chemotherapy drug. Resveratrol is known to be protective against oxidative cardiovascular disorders.
NFI’s resvinatrol complete contains the powerful red wine antioxidant, resveratrol, called « The Fountain of Youth » in a formula that includes several other important antioxidants. Resveratrol, just one of the powerful antioxidants in Resvinatrol Complete, is being heralded by scientists and researchers as an anti-aging miracle drug that can help ward off the effects of age-related diseases such as cancer, heart disease, strokes, obesity, diabetes and Alzheimer’s.
Resvinatrol Complete provides today’s health-conscious consumers with an exciting combination of powerful antioxidants found in red wine, chocolate, pomegranates, red raspberries, and soy. Resvinatrol Complete’s combination of antioxidants is unmatched by any other antioxidant product on the market today.

I ordered a free trial of Acai Berry and Resveratrol from an overseas company. They took p&p out of my account and sent me the products. They have now taken 3 more amounts from my account using different company names, Improve Health, Beauty Club and Dermasolutions. i have cancelled my mastercard and have been assured by my cc company that no more can be taken. They are trying to chargeback the money for me.These companies have stolen money from me and i have not received any more products. If they had broken into my home and thieved, they’d go to prison, but these people get away with it. Has anyone else been burned by these thieves?
I am so sorry

In our modern, busy, day and age eating has become a task that we try to fit in between business meetings, soccer practice, and whatever else we find more pressing at the time. This means that eating is usually done on the run, and the food we are putting into our body is from a brown paper bag or cardboard box and generally holds just about as much nutritional value as the bag or box it came out of. Long ago, meals were prepared with love, from food and vegetables that were grown in the family garden or raised on the family farm. Times were much harder and little food went to waste, what ever was cooked generally got eaten, whether you liked it or not.
Whole food supplements were not necessary then because people generally ate whole foods, and received complete nutrition from the food they ate. Now days, however, eating a meal at a kitchen table is a rare event, let alone actually eating whole foods. Therefore we must supplement. The purpose of eating is to feed not only your stomach, but your body. The human body converts the nutrition it receives from food to energy; the problem is the food we are eating is full of flavor, but lacking the nutrition that the body needs to use as fuel.
So, what exactly is a whole food supplement?
A whole food supplement is a food supplement that has taken all the goodness out of food and placed it in a pill form. All the foods that you love to hate are chalked full of goodness, and taking a whole food supplement ensures that you get each and every nutritious benefit from the food without having to actually eat it.
Taking a whole food supplement takes the guess work out of wondering if you got your five servings of fruits and veggies every day. This does not mean that you can eat fast food everyday, because that food is still bad for you, what it does mean is that when you do eat poorly you are covered. Consider a whole food supplement as your eating insurance policy, when you mess up it is there to cover you.
What are the benefits of taking a whole food supplement?
Taking a whole food supplement gives you all the nutrition that your body needs to run and function properly. Many diseases and bodily malfunctions are caused by malnutrition malnutrition is defined as a state of poor nutrition; this can be starvation, over eating, or eating the wrong foods resulting in mal-nourishment. A large portion of the American population is considered to have malnutrition, whether it is a result of starvation or over eating the wrong foods that leads to fat build up, and a deficiency of vitamins and minerals. Remember ANY lack of nutrition is considered malnutrition.
One of the most popular whole food supplement companies is MegaFood. Their supplements are 100% whole food, are easy to absorb, and the highest quality vitamins available. You can get them and other discounted supplements.

I am 26 yrs old, 6 foot 3 inches, and about 250 lbs. Since the beginning of the year I have been lifting weights and running nearly 4 times a week and have since lost 20 lbs or so. I quit smoking 12 days ago and have another 20-30 days before I have to test for the job opportunity of a life time. I am currently taking a 7 day cleansing program from the health store and taking butt loads of vits daily(niacin, cranberry, B-complex, C, E, Resveratrol, Protein shakes, Glucosamine Condroitin and MSN). I also drink a minimum of a gallon of H2O daily. I have smoked the best chronic around several times daily for years though. I am EXTREMELY WORRIED that I could still fail due to the amount I’ve smoked in the past and that I have a high percentage of body fat (where the THC hides) THANKS FOR ANY INPUT
I would say you should be fine, Just keep up with what you are doing up to the day of the test. On test day you want at least 4 full-Bladder releases before you go into the cup. BUT, You don’t want to pee clear fluid, They test for specific gravity too, If your sample is the same specific gravity as water they will kick it back as altered. So on test AM you need to take some fast dissolving vitamins and stuff to put some weight and color into it. Good Luck.

Lets face it. The benefits of omega-3 fatty acids have been widely talked about, but some people still ask the question, what does fish oil do? It really surprises me sometimes how little some of us know about the preventative effect that high doses of omega-3 DHA and EPA fatty acids have on the body. More and more evidence of the positive power of fish oil has been coming out since the 1970s.
/>
It was then when it was decided that someone should investigate how it was that Eskimos and Inuits had such a low incidence of cardiovascular disease, despite the fact that their daily dietary fat intake was many times what is considered healthy. It turns out that the key to their good health is how high a percentage of their daily dietary fat intake is made up of DHA and EPA omega fatty acids.
The answer to what does fish oil do to promote cardiovascular health is that these compounds, and this is especially true of DHA, lower your triglyceride levels, lower blood pressure, reduce your heart rate, prevent arrhythmia, stimulate blood flow, and prevent platelets from sticking together and causing clots. Omega-3 fatty acids also prevent hardening of the arteries.
It has been evaluated that diets emphasizing traditional native foods were associated with a far healthier fatty acid profile than diets emphasizing Western foods. The sad thing is that as the Inuits and Yupik people become further influenced by the practices of the West their health has been shown to be beginning to decline. It is believed that starch and simple sugars may be contributing to the higher incidence of obesity and disease.
So, what does fish oil do for you other than provide you with a healthier cardiovascular system? DHA and EPA omega-3 fatty acids are involved in the cognitive development and maintenance of healthy cognitive function also. They have been proven to have a positive effect on mood disorders such as depression, hostility, and aggression, and have even been shown to have benefits when it comes to treating schizophrenia.
Omega-3 fatty acids have also been found to have a preventative effect so far as Alzheimers disease. It has been discovered that one of the precursors of the development of Alzheimers is the formation of amyloid plaques in the frontal cortex of the brain. It has been scientifically proven that high levels of DHA in the system prevent these amyloid plaque deposits from forming.
Now that you have the answer to what does fish oil do, you have to make that you are getting it into system. The safest way to do this is through taking a prepared dietary fish oil supplement, rather than trying to eat more fish. There are often high levels of toxic contamination in fish, which you will not find in a molecularly distilled omega-3 fatty acid supplement.
What does fish oil do? It guarantees that you will have far better health than you would have without it. Omega-3 fatty acids simply do amazing things for your body.

I know most red wine does, but white merlot is a tad lighter than regular merlot. It’s also sweeter.
Probably does have some minor beneficial properties if the colour of the wine has been achieved by at least some skin contact.
However, colouring agents are used by many inexpensive white merlot producers which will offer no benefit at all as the anti-oxident benefits are found primarily in the grape skins.
Drink red & stay healthy!
